
"Lisa B. Hurwitz, PhD is Newsela's director of impact research. She has a decade of research experience in the educational media/technology space. Prior to coming to Newsela, Lisa managed efficacy research for Lexia Learning and worked for Paradigm Research & Consulting with clients like Scholastic. She has published a dozen lead-author research studies in academic journals such as *Child Development*, has had research featured in news outlets, including the *Chicago Tribune* and *Education Week*, and serves on the editorial board at the *Journal of Children and Media*. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard Medical School, received a PhD in Media, Technology & Society and a Certificate in Management from Northwestern University, and earned a BA in Psychology and Spanish from NYU."
