Rick oversees secondary education at Edison Township Public Schools in New Jersey. In addition to his decades of experience in district leadership roles as a former assistant superintendent and principal, he was the founding director of a new bilingual school, Colegio Americano (PK-12), in San Salvador, El Salvador. He serves as Faculty for Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Rick began his teaching career as a Teach for America corps member in 1996 in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the coauthor of The Metacognitive Student, which won Gold Medal awards for Best Indie Book in Education in 2021 (Foreword Review) and 2022 (IPPY Awards), and coauthor of The Metacognitive Preschooler. His work has also been published in Educational Leadership, Edutopia, and District Administration.
